Mark and Lisa in Alaska - Day 1
Day 1
The days of planning are over, and it's time to get going. Lisa and I are on
a 2 1/2 week journey to Alaska. On this trip, we will be going to the Arctic
Ocean at Barrow, visiting Denali National Park, seeing the beauty of the Kenai
Peninsula, and enjoying the highways of Alaska in an RV.
Our flight to Houston, and then to Anchorage was pleasant. The flight from
Houston to Anchorage was almost seven hours long, but it was the shortest
overall flight time we could find. Flying through Dallas or Denver would have
meant we would have a long layover. We flew first class, but it's not the same
first class when you are flying international. Not quite as much legroom, but
plenty of food and drink.
Once we starting getting close to Anchorage, we starting noticing the
beautiful mountain scenery. The Millennium Hotel shuttle promptly picked us up.
The room was nice and comfortable. We walked around the small lake and watched
as sea planes landed. Very pretty. As we were still on Oklahoma time, we went to
bed early--about 7:00 p.m. Our flight to Barrow was at 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
